Weekly message to parents and children

This week’s Zoom with children will be...

Monday 13th July – 2:30pm

Hello wonderful Robins,

I hope you all had a lovely week.

Zoom will be on Monday this week; I hope to see you there for our final zoom of the year.  I really enjoy seeing all of the fantastic things you have been doing at home.

This is your last week as a Reception Robin L. I am so very proud of everything you have achieved and cannot wait to see you back in September as a Year 1!

I hope you have a fantastic summer holiday, have lots of fun with your families. Thank you also to all the grown-ups for your support this year.

Have a wonderful summer!

See you soon,

Miss Steele J

Monday’s Learning – Literacy – Reception Reflection

  • This week I would like you to have a go at writing a ‘Reception Reflection’. You can find some templates below or you can create your own.
  • I would love to know:
    • What you like learning
    • What you have enjoyed
    • One thing you will miss
  • You can also draw a picture of your favourite thing you have done in Reception.

Tuesday’s Learning – Maths – Capacity

  • You could also use rice or beans to see how many spoons it takes to fill up a container.
  • Can you see which container holds the most and which holds the least?

Wednesday’s Learning – PE

Thursday’s Learning – Expressive Arts and Design

Friday’s Learning – Understanding the World – Science Experiment – Lava Lamp

  • To link with our learning this week on capacity, I would love you to have a go at this exciting science experiment. This week, we will be making Lava Lamps.
  • You will need an adult to help you with this. Follow the instructions very carefully.
  • Remember to upload your photos and videos onto Tapestry so I can see your creations.

  • Philosophy Question:  Are heroes ever scared?

Write down any of your thoughts to answer this question. Mrs Monk would love to see your ideas.

You might find these other activities fun this week

  • See if you can complete any of the ’30 Days Wild’ activities this week - https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/wildness
  • Write a ‘Summer Holiday To Do List’. Think of all the things you want to have a go at doing this summer with your friends and family and write them down. Remember to tick them off when you have done them so you can talk about them when you get back to school in September. You could even create a scrapbook of your summer holidays and bring it in to show your friends in September.

Talk Homework

Each week, your child will come home with some talk homework  which will include a picture and some questions to talk about. It would be great if you could talk about the image and write down anything talked about. All we ask is that you sign the page to say that you have talked about the picture. This will help the children to develop their vocabulary and speaking skills which are vital in their communication and language development.
